Job Title: Scientist I/II/III
Location: Cupertino, CA

Description:

Main Purpose of Position:

Carry out analytical studies essential for developing project(s) for DURECT's delivery systems. Provide CMC support to project team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out pre-formulation studies and support formulation development with minimum supervision
  • Analytical method development including HPLC and dissolution method development
  • Validation of analytical methods
  • GMP/GLP analytical assays for releasing batches and stability study
  • Technical report writing
  • Discussion and meeting with clients
  • Serve as a team member in project team and provide CMC support to project


Requirements:
  • MS or equivalent in pharmaceutics or chemistry.  PhD highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry for BS/MS or 2-8 years experience for Ph.D.
    • Scientist I: Ph.D 0-2 years
    • Scientist II: Ph.D 3-5 years
    • Scientist III: Ph.D 6-10 years
  • A minimum of 15 years of pharmaceutical experience especially in the area of parenteral and suspension dosage form. Proficient in cGMP regulations and ICH/FDA guidance is a plus.
  • Experience with process development and technical transfer is a plus.
  • GMP experience preferred.
  • Able to work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables.
  • Able to exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Must have hands-on formulation and analytical experience.
  • Must be flexible towards handling multiple project assignments and be a team player.
  • Able to communicate information effectively.
  • Good technical writing skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Will be required to work in the analytical laboratory for up to 50%-75% of work time on average.
  • May work with potent drug molecules and hazardous chemicals.
  • Will be required to wear laboratory safety devices during working in the laboratory such as respirator or mask for potent molecules.
  • Must follow all the safety rules and guidance from Durect's EH&S group.
  • Will work extensively with personal computers.
